AURORA, IL — A family was displaced Monday afternoon after a fire broke out at their residence in the 2600 block of Lansdale Street, the Aurora Fire Department said.

Twenty-five personnel responded to the two-story house at about 1:50 p.m. to find a fire in the attic near the installed solar panels.

While firefighters advanced hose lines for both interior and exterior attacks, truck company crews accessed the roof to assist with ventilation and remove damaged materials, according to a news release.

Firefighters were able to limit damage primarily to the roof and attic area, officials said. The fire rendered the house uninhabitable, displacing two adults and two children.

The residents are temporarily staying with nearby friends, officials said. Victim Services responded to assist the family.

No firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire, the cause of which remains under investigation.

"This incident highlights the importance of coordinated operations when dealing with modern building features," Aurora Fire Deputy Chief Kevin Nickel said in a statement. "Our crews worked efficiently to control the fire while minimizing damage to the rest of the home."
