2 Men Shot On Aurora's East Side While Attending Gathering: Police

AURORA, IL — Two men were shot Saturday night while attending a gathering on Aurora's East Side, police said.

The Aurora men, ages 19 and 20, were at the function in the 0-100 block of Jackson Place when they were struck by gunfire, according to a Monday evening news release. Police were called to the residence at about 10:55 p.m. after ShotSpotter detected multiple rounds of gunfire.

Aurora Fire Department paramedics brought both victims to a local hospital. The 20-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, but the 19-year-old was later transferred to another hospital in critical but stable condition, officials said.

Evidence technicians processed the scene and found multiple shell casings and other evidence in the area. Investigators also determined that Waldo Middle School was struck by gunfire during the incident. No one was inside the school at the time.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood and continue to follow up on leads as the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made.
