6 Men Held Detained In Chicagoland Prostitution, Brothel Investigation: Mosser

AURORA, IL — The six men accused of operating and profiting from brothels in Aurora, West Dundee, Rockford, South Elgin and Hanover Park have been detained pre-trial, Kane County State's Attorney Jamie Mosser said Thursday.

A 15-month investigation by the Kane County State's Attorney's Office Human Exploitation Unit culminated July 16 in the arrest of six men — Abisahit Del Angel Hernandez, 40, of Woodstock; Gustavo A. Perez Cardoza, 35, of Aurora; Hugo F. Jaimes-Ramirez, 43, of Aurora; Kenneth E. Figueroa Castro, 29, of Belvidere; Delfino Torres-Navarro, 59, of Hanover Park; and Ricardo Hernandez Lux, 33, of Elgin.

The men were charged with promoting prostitution for profit, promoting prostitution near a school and forgery.

The multi-jurisdictional arrest operation also led police to three women, who were offered serves and resources from victim advocates and medical personnel.

The men used apartments in Aurora, West Dundee, Rockford and South Elgin as brothels, Mosser said. They cleaned and maintained them, installed home security cameras and received up to $400 per week as compensation.

The charges allege some defendants used fraudulent identification to obtain leases for apartments that were subsequently used as brothels.

The apartments used as brothels were located in the 500 block of Ashland Avenue in Aurora, in the 800 block of Village Quarter Road in West Dundee, in the 800 block of Kishwaukee Street in Rockford, and in the 300 block of Ann Street in South Elgin. The West Dundee unit is less than 600 feet from a K-8 school, and the one in Rockford is located near an elementary school.

The Kane County State's Attorney's Office argued that no conditions of release could mitigate the dangers posed by the six men. Circuit Court Judge D.J. Tegeler granted the state's motion to deny pre-trial release.
