CHICAGO, IL — This holiday season, Christkindlmarket will bring its German-style holiday market to three Chicagoland locations, including two in the city and one in the suburbs, organizers announced Thursday.
The outdoor market will return for its 30th season at the Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago, its eighth season to Gallagher Way in Chicago's Wrigleyville neighborhood, and its fifth year at Aurora's RiverEdge Park.
All three locations are set to open Friday, Nov. 20, the weekend before Thanksgiving.
The Chicago and Aurora markets will run through Christmas Eve, while the Wrigleyville location will stay open through New Year's Eve.
The admission-free markets feature local and international vendors. Christkindlmarket is modeled after the classic German holiday market in Nuremberg, Germany, with traditional candy cane-striped huts.
The nonprofit German American Events, a subsidiary of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, hosts Christkindlmarket each year.
The market in Aurora will be the largest of the three, with more than 60 vendors spread across RiverEdge Park's expanded campus. Newer additions will include A Little Slice of Europe, featuring European cheeses; Biró Kürtős, serving chimney cakes; and Steincenter, offering a new selection of steins.
Take a look at the schedule, including special hours, for the three locations:
Christkindlmarket Chicago, 50 W. Washington St.
Christkindlmarket Wrigleyville, 3635 N. Clark St.
Christkindlmarket Aurora, 360 N. Broadway
