The crash happened at about 1:16 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet Malibu attempted to turn left from Lake Street onto eastbound Illinois Avenue when it crossed into the path of a northbound Jeep Grand Cherokee in the intersection, police spokesperson Jim Levicki told Patch.

Neither driver reported injuries, and both declined medical treatment at the scene, Levicki said. The cars were disabled in the crash and had to be towed.

The driver of the Chevrolet was cited for making an improper left turn and driving without a driver's license.
