Officials warned motorists to expect backups and consider alternate routes until the scene could be cleared and traffic returned to normal.

City Of Lights Film Festival Returns For 4th Year: See The Lineup (patch.com) β Film lovers in Aurora can look forward to the City of Lights Film Festival returning Sept. 18-19 with a packed lineup at The Venue on South Broadway. The event features an opening night screening with a Q&A, student and short film blocks, and a special 25th anniversary showing of Moulin Rouge, with many filmmakers attending for post-screening discussions.

Naperville-based nonprofit student film to be shown at UN climate conference (chicagotribune.com) β Aurora high school students helped create a climate-change documentary that will be screened at this year's United Nations climate conference, while also studying local air and water quality. Their research pinpointed Aurora neighborhoods near BNSF tracks as vulnerable to pollution, and they're now seeking a grant from Aurora's Youth Climate Action Fund to install new air-quality sensors in those communities.

Students honored, youth poetry (thevoice.us) β Two Aurora high schoolers, Addie Mitchell and Samir Salomov, have been named winners in the 2026 Gwendolyn Brooks Youth Poetry Awards, standing out among more than a thousand entries statewide. Their poems, along with other Illinois students' work, explore themes like family, identity, and belonging, and they'll be honored at a celebration in Chicago this weekend.
