1. 7 Firearms, Narcotics Found In Aurora House, Man Charged: Police (patch.com) — Aurora police say a Sherman Avenue narcotics investigation led to the seizure of seven firearms, large quantities of drugs and cash, and the arrest of 40-year-old resident Alberto Diaz-Vargas. Officers report that several guns were left unsecured around children in the home, prompting serious drug and pending firearm charges as the case moves toward an October court date.
   

2. Garbage Truck Rolls Over In Orchard Road Crash, Spills 'Significant Amount' Of Waste: Aurora Police (patch.com) — A fully loaded garbage truck rolled over while turning onto Orchard Road in Aurora, spilling a large amount of trash and forcing lane closures for several hours. Fire crews freed the driver, who was uninjured, while heavy equipment and multiple trips were needed to clear the waste and reopen all lanes by midnight.
   

3. Building a stronger Library through staff development (thevoice.us) — Aurora Public Library District recently closed for its annual Staff Development Day, giving more than 160 employees time to train, connect, and sharpen customer service skills. Leaders say the workshops, teamwork sessions, and Ruthmary Wood Award recognition ultimately help staff better serve Aurora residents across all branches and the bookmobile.

Tourism officials say local visitor spending hit record high in 2025 (tricitiescentral.com) — Visitor spending across the Aurora area, including Aurora and nearby suburbs, hit a record $288.85 million in 2025, supporting over 3,000 jobs and boosting local tax revenue. Tourism officials say expanding the Aurora Area Convention & Visitors Bureau's territory and creating a unified Fox River Valley brand should further strengthen local businesses, hotels, and quality of life.

Residents express concerns about data centers at meeting in Aurora (chicagotribune.com) — Aurora residents packed the Santori Public Library to question how nearby data centers may be driving up utility bills and affecting noise, water, and air quality. City leaders highlighted Aurora's new data center regulations and urged support for state-level rules, while some residents pushed for exploring a city-owned renewable-powered grid to better protect local energy costs.
