AURORA, IL — Five men, residents of Aurora, Joliet and Sandwich, were taken into custody after they attempted to solicit sex from an undercover police officer, Aurora police said.
On Oct. 29, members of APD's Special Operations Group and Community Oriented Policing Unit conducted a "prostitution reversal operation" in the 200 block of South Broadway and 500 block of South River Street.
The following men were arrested and charged with solicitation of a sexual act following the operation, officials said. Five vehicles were also impounded.
All five men are scheduled to appear in court Nov. 23.
The arrest is part of the Aurora Police Department's efforts to address reported prostitution activity in the lower downtown area, officials said.
"Operations like these are part of our ongoing commitment to addressing community concerns and reducing illegal activity in our neighborhoods," Special Operations Group Lieutenant Chris McWilliams said in a statement. "They also play an important role in our broader efforts to combat human trafficking. By targeting the demand that drives exploitation, we can help disrupt the cycle that puts vulnerable people at risk of being victimized."
