On the 11th of October in Barrington a community comes together to follow a tradition of making a difference in the lives of others. The CROP Hunger Walk is a nationwide movement sponsored by Church World Service to raise funds to end hunger and poverty in the U.S. and around the world. Hundreds of religious groups, businesses, schools and others organize local Walk events in their communities each year, while others join the National Walk and choose their own location and experience.

"13730 walkers have raised over $1.75M, with over $429800 given to local agencies working to end hunger. In 2024, the Barrington Area CROP Hunger. In 2024, the Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk ranked 20th (out of over 500 walks) in the nation, raising $53,000".

Research documents benefits for youth who engage in service learning. https://nvfs.org/benefits-of-teen-volunteerism/ Teenagers Prabhgun Kaur, Prabhjeet Singh, Jack Weed and Krish Nara are actively engaging classmates and taking on a leadership role to inspire others through their commitment to service projects. In face 14 year old Prabgun Kaur has promoted the event in her Sikh Temple also called a Gurdwara to become a participating member for the local Crop Hunger Walk in Barrington. A multigenerational event makes it fun for all as youth bring energy and enthusiasm while learning from adults.
