• Death of teen at Cary home involved firearm; police probe continues (shawlocal.com) — A teenage boy died Saturday after suffering a traumatic firearm-related injury at a home in Cary and being transported to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington. Cary police, fire officials, and the Major Investigations Assistance Team are still probing what happened, while the Lake County coroner conducts a postmortem and has not yet released the teen's name or cause of death.
   

• Diesel gas at $5.49 per gallon in Lake County in week ending Sept. 19 (lakecountygazette.com) — Barrington drivers are seeing diesel prices around the mid-to-high $5 range, as part of a Lake County trend where the cheapest reported diesel hit $5.49 per gallon during the week ending Sept. 19.
