• Educator Of The Year Nominee Accused Of Pulling Girl Down Stairs By Hair (patch.com) — Barrington-area parents may be alarmed to learn that a Barrington District 220 art teacher, recently nominated for a Lake County Educator of the Year award, is facing domestic battery charges involving a 15-year-old family member. The incident allegedly occurred at his Wonder Lake home, and he has been released under conditions while awaiting an Oct. 13 plea hearing.
   

• In 5th Congressional District, Quigley and Hanson spar over election security (chicagotribune.com) — Barrington-area voters are part of Illinois' 5th Congressional District, where Democrat Mike Quigley and Republican Tommy Hanson sharply disagree over how secure U.S. elections are and how voting should work. Quigley backs current safeguards and opposes stricter ID and proof-of-citizenship rules, while Hanson wants paper-only ballots, tighter early voting windows, and a hard Election Night counting deadline.
