Former State Rep. Nick Sauer Turns Himself In: UPDATE

Sauer was indicted Wednesday by the Lake County Grand Jury.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Former state Rep. Nick Sauer turned himself into authorities Thursday — a day after he was indicted on felony charges for allegedly posting sexual images of two different women he knew online. The first-term Republican resigned in August after news broke that he allegedly created a fake Instagram account and shared nude photos of his former girlfriend without her permission, Politico reported.

Sauer surrendered himself to the Lake County Sheriff's Thursday and posted the required 10 percent of his $30,000 bail before being released from custody, prosecutors said. He has been ordered to have no contact with the victims in the case and also ordered not to use social media.

On Wednesday, the Lake County Grand Jury issued a 12-count indictment against Sauer, according to the state's attorney's office. He is charged with non-consensual dissemination of private sexual images, which are Class 4 felonies.
