The Garlands of Barrington to Hold Free Presentation: Your Rights as a Hospital Patient

More than ever, people are worried about the quality of the healthcare they and their loved ones receive in the hospital. That is why The Garlands of Barrington will host the presentation “Your Rights as a Hospital Patient” on June 8th at 11:45 a.m. The Garlands is located at 1000 Garlands Drive and the presentation will take place in the Surround Sound Theater.

The program will be presented by Teri Dreher, an award-winning critical care nurse, author and private professional patient advocate. The free program is open to the public.

Dreher will offer practical tools to help lay people understand their basic rights, expectations and responsibilities while in the hospital. She will explain how avoid medical errors, now the third-leading cause of death. In addition, Dreher will share dos and don’ts for getting the best hospital care, as well as tips for successfully navigating today’s complex healthcare system.
