Barrington, IL, August 2015 ––Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble (BYDE) announces open auditions for its 2015 Nutcracker production. Auditions will be held on Sunday, September 13th from 12:00-3:30pm at Barrington Dance Academy, 758 W Northwest Highway, Barrington. Roles are being cast for male and female dancers age 7 and up. Dancers from any studio are invited to audition. The Nutcracker will be presented December 18th, 19th, and 20th at Barrington High School Auditorium.
Barrington Youth Dance Ensemble’s (BYDE’s) annual Nutcracker is a community ballet. While the major solo parts are danced by either professional guest artists or BYDE company members, the corps-de-ballet parts feature dancers from a variety of local studios every year. Dancers from studios throughout the Northwest suburbs have performed in the Waltz of the Flowers, as Soldiers, Snow Flurries or Angels, and as the adorable mice who terrorize Clara before her trip to the Land of Sweets. Roles in The Nutcracker are available for student dancers starting at age 7 and parts are even available for adults with dance training.
The student dancers and BYDE company members who perform in the Nutcracker have the unique experience of being part of a professional level production. BYDE company member Juliana Nikolich explains, “The Nutcracker is my favorite time of the year. The entire process is so much fun. The experience is something you’ll never regret. Once you see the final result, you will be so glad that you decided to put all of your hard work into it.”
