People can show their support for STAF by giving a donation to fire a simulated 50-caliber machine gun in a special designated area. All of the proceeds will support STAF Programs.
At the event, Salute the Armed Forces will be making one WWII veteran’s dream come true. Doug Babitzke, a 90-year-old WWII Army veteran from Burr Ridge, will be a passenger flying into the battlefield during a reenactment. Babitzke wanted to be a fighter pilot during WW II, however, he was placed in infantry.
