Sears Holdings Corp. to Cut Up to 130 Jobs Today

The cost-saving measure is meant to boost revenue for the struggling Hoffman Estates-based company.

Sears Holdings Corp., which is based in Hoffman Estates, is expected to cut between 120 and 130 jobs today.

The move is meant to lower expenses and streamline operations for Sears Holdings, which is the parent company of Sears and Kmart stores and has seen sales drop off as consumers have chosen to shop elsewhere in recent years, the Daily Herald reports.

Hoffman Estates Mayor Bill McLeod told the Daily Herald he was informed by the company that the layoffs were expected to come from its headquarters.
