Village of Lake Barrington will not increase property tax levy for 2016

LAKE BARRINGTON ¬¬– The Village of Lake Barrington announced that it will not raise the Village’s portion of the property tax levy in 2016 for the Village’s residents and businesses. This decision reflects the Village’s solid economic standing which has resulted from its prudent management of taxpayers’ dollars and from its ongoing efforts to promote both the recruitment of new businesses into Lake Barrington and expanded growth of the Village’s already strong local business community.

“We feel it is our duty as elected village officials to be good stewards of the residents’ hard-earned tax dollars,” said Lake Barrington Village President, Kevin Richardson. “We are proud of the fact that our keen focus on tightly managing expenses and our coordinated effort to create a pro-growth business climate has eliminated the need for an increase to the property tax levy this year.”

Richardson noted that positive signs of economic growth continue in the Village, both in its commercial and residential areas. New businesses are emerging in the Pepper Road Business Park and along U.S. Route 14 while the new owner of the Market Place Shopping Center has indicated a strong desire to work with the Village in helping the property reach its full potential. Moreover, residential homebuilding efforts continue to reflect renewed strength with such subdivisions as the Enclave and Tallgrass showing increasing permit and building activity.

Our unique character combined with the thoughtful planning we’ve done over the past several years are working to assure that the Village continues to be in a strong position for years to come.
