Wine Tasting to Benefit Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation

Team Jeffrey Wine Tasting, held in honor of Jeffrey Peters, will be held on June 28 at Coopers Hawk Winery.

When Jeffrey Peters was diagnosed with the lung disease pulmonary fibrosis in March of 2010, it took his family off guard.

“We had never even heard of it,” Michele Peters explained. “Even though it’s as common as breast cancer.”

The Peters family turned to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation for information after the diagnosis, which Michele Peters said has helped them immensely.

“The foundation has been a great resource for education and for support,” she said.

Now the Peters family wants to raise money and awareness about the disease and the foundation through the first ever “Team Jeffrey Wine Tasting” to be held at 6 p.m. on June 28 at Cooper’s Hawk Winery in South Barrington.

“We were just trying to get think of some creative ways to raise funds,” Michele Peters said. “We are really excited…It will be a good evening filled with a lot of people who know Jeffrey so it will be a lot of fun.”

The cost of the wine tasting is $45, which includes pre-selected wines, appetizers, and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a variety of great prizes from local vendors. Prizes include an Odyssey dinner cruise for two, passes to Six Flags, restaurant and spa gift cards and more. Individual tickets will be $3 each, with a price break if attendees purchase multiple tickets.

Michele Peters expects dozens of people to attend the event, but is hoping awareness will attract more ticket sales.

“We’re hoping to get around 40 people, that’s what we’re hoping for,” she said.
