1 Airlifted After Early Morning Fire in Batavia

The 33-year-old man was taken to a suburban hospital following the house fire.

BATAVIA, IL — A 33-year-old man who was injured in a house fire early Saturday in Batavia was airlifted to a hospital. The extent of the man's injuries, which included burns sustained in the blaze in the 300 block of State Street, were not immediately known. Fire officials said they first responded to the fire just before 4 a.m. after neighbors called to report the blaze.

When fire crews arrived, they found a fire showing in the back of the home, according to a news release from the Batavia Fire Department, and determined that all occupants were out of the home.

A 33-year-old man with serious burn injuries was found in front of the home and treated by ambulance crews before he was air lifted to Loyola University Medical Center, authorities said.

The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes. No one else was injured and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the news release.
