2 Film Series Planned This Month At Batavia Movie Theater: See Lineup
Emagine is hosting a winter film series for kids and another featuring beloved throwback movies, including "Mean Girls" and "Interstellar."
BATAVIA, IL — When the weather is brisk and the sun rarely comes out, going to the movies can be a great use of time. This January, Batavia's only movie theater has two film series planned.
Emagine Theatre, 550 N. Randall Road, will screen one festival geared toward children and another perfect for those who love going to the theater to see older movies.
From Jan. 9 to March 5, the theater will show the Winter Kids Series, which features eight animated movies. Tickets will cost $3 for all ages, and the concession combos will be $5.

Here's a look at the schedule for the Winter Kids Series:
- "The Land Before Time" — Jan. 9-15
- "Despicable Me 4" — Jan. 16-22
- "The Wild Robot" — Jan. 23-29
- "Kung Fu Panda 4" — Jan. 30-Feb. 5
- "The Secret Life of Pets 2" — Feb. 6-12
- "The Bad Guys" — Feb. 13-19
- "The Muppet Movie" — Feb. 20-26
- "Migration" — Feb. 27-March 5
Also in January, Emagine will host its Flashback Cinema Series, featuring four "classic films everyone knows and loves." This is what's planned:

- "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" — Jan. 7
- "The Outsiders" — Jan. 11 and Jan. 14
- "Mean Girls" — Jan. 18-19, Jan. 21
- "Interstellar" — Jan. 24-25, Jan. 28
National Popcorn Day also falls this month, on Jan. 19, and Emagine is celebrating by offering traditional popcorn buckets of all sizes for $5. In addition, with every popcorn purchase that day, movie-goers will receive a pull-tab prize ticket. Every ticket will be a winner, theater representatives said, meaning guests will have the chance to win gourmet popcorn upgrades, sodas, and two grand prize offerings that include movie tickets and free popcorn throughout the year.
