3 Batavia High School Artists To Be Showcased In Premier IL Showcase
The students' artwork was selected from among 1,000 artists from more than 125 high schools across the state.
BATAVIA, IL — Three Batavia High School students were chosen to have their work exhibited at one of Illinois's premier showcases for high school artists, Batavia Public School District 101 announced Wednesday.
Amelia "Mimi" Patterson, Jane Lishamer and Benjamin Wash were selected for the 13th annual Illinois High School Art Exhibition out of about 1,000 student artists from more than 125 high schools across the state. About 500 students were selected for the display, district officials told Patch.
As of Wednesday, Batavia High School seniors participating in the exhibition have collectively received $661,000 in college scholarship offers, with additional awards still being processed, District 101 officials said.

The exhibition will run from March 14 through April 18 at the Bridgeport Art Center in Chicago. The Illinois High School Art Exhibition connects high school artists with representatives from more than 40 art schools, colleges and universities nationwide and has helped facilitate more than $192 million in tuition scholarships since its founding in 2013.
In addition to the scholarship exhibition, six more Batavia High School students will have their artwork featured in the Northern Regional Exhibition, a "Best of the Best" show that highlights outstanding work from students across Illinois.
