$750 Scholarship Applications Open To Batavia High School Seniors

The Batavia Chamber of Commerce will award four scholarships, each in a different "Inspire" category, by mid-April.

BATAVIA, IL — Batavia School District 101 high school seniors are eligible to apply for one of four $750 scholarships awarded by the Batavia Chamber of Commerce.

The scholarships, according to a news release, are motivated by the makeup of the Chamber and its annual awards event, Inspire: A Celebration of Those Who Inspire Us. The scholarships, subsequently, are available in four categories — inspiring entrepreneurship, inspiring women in business, inspiring career and technical achievers, and inspiring contributors to a Batavia Chamber business — each with a topic-specific application.

"As a community-minded organization, we were searching for another avenue to support our community," Margaret Perreault, president and CEO of the Chamber, said in a statement. "Also, in discussions with our member businesses we repeatedly heard how difficult it is to hire well-trained and/or educated employees."

She continued: "It only makes sense that we help inspire students to further their education so they will be ready to fulfill those jobs that our members struggle to fill."

Applications will be accepted through March 31, and winners will be notified by email no later than April 15. The financial award will be paid to the school the student will be attending.
