The Albright Theatre Presents "The Memory of Water"

The Albright Theatre is proud to present "The Memory of Water" by Shelagh Stephenson.

“The Memory of Water” is a poignant play about the homecoming of three sisters who all come home to plan the funeral for their mother, who has recently died after a battle with Alzheimer’s. As plans are made and stories of the past are shared, the sisters soon realize they don’t always share the same memory of events. Sisters Mary, Teresa and Catherine use humor—and bickering—to deal with their loss.

“I’m drawn to the characters in this script,” said director and Bloomingdale resident Veronica Krystal. “They are all very flawed, but they don’t try to come off as perfect people. Despite the fact they cannot agree on their shared memories, they all still come together in memory of their mother, who had flaws of her own.”

The cast includes: Shelly Rolf of Geneva as Mary; Cara Schuster of Batavia as Teresa; Michelle Bennett of Roselle as Catherine; Richard Holloman of Hoffman Estates as Mike; Michael Yoder of Naperville as Frank; and Antonia Arellano of West Chicago as Vi. “The Memory of Water” is supported by producer and stage manager, Jon Jocson, of Geneva.

“The sisters aren’t estranged, but they certainly aren’t close,” Krystal says. “They still giggle, they still bicker, they still get mad at each other. ‘Blood is thicker than water’ eventually prevails and the sisters are able to smile together before the end.”

“The Memory of Water” will run weekends October 31 through November 15. Rated PG-13 (L, D)
