GENEVA, IL — Geneva is beginning to plan for its 2024 Comprehensive Plan, and officials are asking locals to be a part of the process to determine the long-term vision for the city.
The plan will address housing, transportation, economic development, land use and more topics. Once completed, the plan will serve as a guiding document to help elected officials make informed decisions about the city's future.
Geneva's last comprehensive plan update was in 2003. The new planning process began earlier this month with the City’s consultant conducting community stakeholder interviews.
Residents' and business owners' first opportunity to connect with city leaders will be at the Geneva Conversations event from 7-8:30 p.m. May 7 at Geneva High School, 416 McKinley Ave. The evening will include an overview of the comprehensive plan and small-group discussions.
Additional feedback opportunities will be offered throughout the year.
The new comprehensive plan is anticipated to be ratified by the City Council in early 2027.
