BATAVIA, IL — A second festival, one focused on fine art, is scheduled to take place for the first time during the popular Windmill City Fest in mid-July.
The Batavia Depot Museum and Batavia Park District will host the inaugural Fine Art Fest from noon to 8 p.m. July 11. The expo will take place inside the new Callahan Community Center Sky Loft.
The "unconventional indoor evening art show" will allow artists to avoid early morning setups, heat stroke and mosquitoes, organizers said. Instead, they'll enjoy "gorgeous sunset river views, climate control, and a rocking evening crowd."
Artists have until June 22 to apply for a chance to show and sell their artwork. Applications will be reviewed by a jury, and those accepted will be notified by June 26. The fee for a 10-foot-by-10-foot booth is $40.
The Windmill City Fest, happening July 10-12, welcomes thousands of visitors annually for food and drinks, live music, games, carnival rides and contests, including the fan-favorite pet competition.
A schedule for all events planned for the Windmill City Fest is available on the Batavia Park District website.
