BATAVIA, IL — U.S. News & World Report released its 2026-2027 Best High Schools list, placing Batavia High School among the 100 best in the state.
U.S. News evaluated about 27,000 eligible public high schools nationwide and ranked nearly 18,000 of them. Batavia High School ranked 83rd in Illinois.
The rankings are based on six performance measures, including student achievement on state-required assessments, graduation rates and college readiness.
U.S. News also considers how well schools serve underserved students, participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams, curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes.
About 42 percent of Batavia High School students took at least one AP Exam, with 30 percent passing. The school's graduation rate is 93 percent.
Batavia students' mathematics, reading and science proficiency varied by about 10 percentage points, at 48 percent, 53 percent and 59 percent, respectively.
The college readiness index rank put Batavia High School in 140th place in the state. The index is determined based on the proportions of 12th graders who took and earned a qualifying score on at least one AP or IB exam. Comparatively, the school landed in 58th place for the assessment proficiency rank, which aggregates scores in math, reading and oftentimes science state assessments that students may be required to pass for graduation.

Of Illinois's 675 ranked schools, the top five also ranked among the 100 best in the country, according to the report.
The rankings use data from the 2023-2024 school year and were produced with research firm RTI International.
