BATAVIA, IL — Two crashes were reported within 15 minutes of each other Friday afternoon on Fabyan Parkway, one the result of traffic caused by the first, Batavia police said.

No injuries were reported in the collisions, which happened about a quarter-mile apart.

The first crash occurred at 3:16 p.m. at the intersection of West Fabyan Parkway and North Batavia Avenue. Three vehicles, all traveling westbound on Fabyan Parkway, collided after one improperly changed lanes, Deputy Chief Gary La Barbera told Patch.

One vehicle flipped onto its roof as a result of the impact, La Barbera said. The at-fault driver was cited, according to police.

The second crash, between three vehicles and a semi-truck, happened at 3:29 p.m. at the intersection with River Rock Drive.

In an attempt to avoid the eastbound traffic associated with the first crash, a driver made a U-turn to head west on Fabyan Parkway, then tried to turn left onto River Rock Drive from the westbound curb lane. There, the car struck another passenger vehicle that was headed west in the inside lane, La Barbera said.

The second car collided with an eastbound car that had been stopped in traffic. The impact pushed the third car backward, its rear striking the front of the semi, police said.

"There were no indications of injury for this crash, though drivers were checked by medics due to airbag deployment," La Barbera told Patch.

The at-fault driver was issued a citation for making an improper turn, according to police.
