More Than $16K Stolen From Batavia Auto Shop: Police

BATAVIA, IL — More than $16,000 was reported missing Aug. 24 from Bumper to Bumper in Batavia, police said.

Officers were dispatched at 7:05 a.m. to the shop, 920 W. Wilson St., for a reported burglary. It was the second time that morning that police were called to the shop.

At 5:55 a.m., officers responded to an activated alarm at the business. At that time, all doors were found secure and there were no signs of forced entry. Police said they didn't see anything suspicious inside, Sgt. Michelle Langston told Patch.

When employees arrived to work for the day, they noticed money and checks missing. Authorities estimate the loss to be approximately $14,933 in cash and $1,534.27 in checks, Langston said.

Police said they have not identified any suspects and have not had additional developments, though the case remains under investigation.
