Vanguard Gifted Academy Redefines Education for Gifted and Twice-Exceptional Learners in Batavia

Vanguard Gifted Academy, an independent, innovative microschool dedicated to guiding gifted children toward a life of discovery, empowerment, and innovation, has officially opened enrollment for the 2026–2027 academic year. The 2026–2027 curriculum is structured around four interdisciplinary quarters—Community, Power, Systems, and Change—for Band 1 (K-2) and Band 2 (3-5).. Each quarter blends rigorous core academics across social studies, sciences, math, and language arts with hands-on immersion in music, drama, art, technology, and physical development:

• Quarter 1: Community (August 13 – October 23): Students explore local and global community structures, animal habitats, measurement patterns, and cultural universals, utilizing digital media design and collaborative arts to bring their understandings to life.
• Quarter 2: Power (October 26 – December 18): Learners investigate ancient civilizations—including the Aztec, Inca, Maya, Ancient Greece, Rome, and China—while engaging in applied math, historical literature, block coding, robotics, and ancient-inspired engineering.
• Quarter 3: Systems (January 5 – March 26): The focus shifts to modern structures, exploring human body systems, the geography and culture of Mexico, government branches, and advanced mathematics. Students engage in maker-centered learning by utilizing CAD software and physical prototyping to model complex systems.
• Quarter 4: Change (April 6 – May 26): The academic year concludes with investigations into historical shifts, including Viking exploration, earth sciences and plate tectonics, American reform movements, and environmental changes. Students synthesize their learning through comprehensive research reports, original compositions, and digital multimedia presentations.

Beyond the daily classroom experience, Vanguard emphasizes authentic audiences through events like Showcase Nights, where students share complex applications of new understandings with the broader community.
