• Batavia High School Student Named Semifinalist In National Merit Scholarship Program (patch.com) — A Batavia High School student, Peter Day, has been named a semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, putting him among just 16,000 students nationwide. He'll now submit detailed applications and test scores as he competes for one of about 6,700 scholarships to be awarded next spring.
   

• Batavia Woman Stole More Than $1.5M From Former Employers: Prosecutors (patch.com) — A 60-year-old Batavia woman has been charged with allegedly stealing more than $1.5 million from two West Chicago construction firms over several years, according to DuPage County prosecutors. She was arrested at her Batavia home and released on her own recognizance, with a court appearance set for October in front of Judge Brian Telander.
   

• Illinois high school football scores for Friday, September 11 (myjournalcourier.com) — Batavia fans can celebrate a big win, with the Bulldogs rolling past Lake Park 56–7 in Friday night high school football action. The game was one of many across Illinois, but Batavia's lopsided score stands out as a strong early-season statement for the local team.
