Batavia Yard Waste Collection Starts Next Week

Due to the early spring, Veolia ES will resume collecting yard waste in the City of Batavia beginning the week of March 26 on residents’ regular collection days. This was originally scheduled to begin the week of April 2.

Yard waste stickers (green) and yard waste bags (green City logo) are available for purchase at the Utility Billing Office at Batavia City Hall. These items may also be found at several local outlets. For a current list of vendors and prices, refer to the city website, http://www.cityofbatavia.net. The yard waste season runs through the end of November.

Residents should place yard waste bags or 32-gallon cans at the curb on their regular collection date. Yard waste is collected separately from regular refuse and recycling. Cans must be clearly labeled “yard waste” on the front and a yard waste sticker should be affixed to the handle. Veolia logo paper bags are prepaid and do not need a sticker; generic bags require a yard waste sticker. Plastic bags cannot be used. Maximum capacity is 50 pounds per yard waste bag or container. Yard waste carts with a 65-gallon capacity are also available for a fee through Veolia Environmental Services. Yard waste is collected separately from regular refuse and recycling. Refuse may not be mixed with yard waste.
