Now with over 40 lines ‘From Fun to Fine,’ the Batavia shop began as a home-based business.
Karen Hollis and the staff at , 147 S. Randall Road in Batavia, have a lot to celebrate these days. Foremost is the fact that 2012 marks the shop’s seventh year in business.
Along with storeowner Karen and two master jewelers, the shop’s other nine employees are committed to ensure that “all who enter as guests leave as a friend.” This was apparent on Thursday, April 19 as a steady stream of area clients and well-wishers packed an open house commemorating K. Hollis Jewelers’ seventh anniversary.
Hollis is understandably excited about recently gaining their 10,000th unique client, but she is equally humble.

“K. Hollis Jewelers began when I took ‘time off’ from fifteen years of teaching to follow my passion of making jewelry,” Karen Hollis said. “I was overwhelmed with the response to my creations and surprised when I outgrew my dining room table.”
To share her passion for people through her jewelry designs, Karen and husband, Rob, leased a storefront in the Windmill Shopping Center in Batavia, near Jewel-Osco. Originally, K. Hollis Jewelers carried about fifteen designers besides Karen’s one-of-a-kind creations.

Today, with the tagline “From Fun to Fine,” K. Hollis Jewelers represents over 40 designers, with two of the most recent jewelry artists hailing from France and Italy. The full-service shop also sells handbags and specializes in bringing clients’ jewelry ideas to life with custom design and re-design services completed by a master jeweler.
The passionate sharing of joy when a customer shops for a special occasion, as well as a dedication to customer service, likely contributed to the store’s ranking as the top jeweler in the 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards sponsored by the Daily Herald.
“We want every customer to become a customer for life,” Hollis said. “We do that by carrying great products, treating people honestly and fairly, and standing behind everything we do or sell 100%.”
It appears her customers agree.
“We are so lucky to have such a great jeweler in Batavia,” said Debbie Housh in a customer testimonial. “When you walk into her shop, it’s like walking into your own home. Everyone is so warm and friendly.”
With the only rule in customer service being to “do the right thing,” it is no wonder well-wishers took time out of their own busy schedule to stop by Thursday’s celebration.
