Asian-Inspired Cafe Opens 1st Location In Walmart

Not only is the new store Bambu's first in a Walmart, but it's also the first to open in the Chicago suburbs.

BATAVIA, IL — A cafe specializing in Asian-inspired beverages opened its inaugural Walmart location in Batavia.

Bambu welcomed customers for the first time Wednesday within the supercenter at 801 N. Randall Road. Not only is it the new shop the company's first in Walmart, but it's also the first location in the Chicago suburbs.

Bambu serves smoothies, boba teas, traditional Vietnamese drip coffee and mochi-style waffles.

"Batavia guests can experience the distinctive taste and crafted quality that define Bambu," franchise owner Willy Mathew said in a statement. "Each item is carefully prepared to combine heritage-inspired authenticity with a modern experience. The new location allows guests to enjoy these drinks in a trusted retail environment, making it easy to discover new flavors and share memorable moments with family and friends."

In addition to about 60 locations nationwide, Bambu also operates a cafe in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.

"This opening reflects our focus on bringing Bambu directly to guests in their daily routines," Bambu CEO Marc Geman said in a statement. "Partnering with Walmart allows access to new customers, and Batavia offers an ideal community to introduce the brand’s unique blends in a space people already know and trust."

Bambu in Batavia will be open during Walmart's store hours, representatives said.
