Auditions open for Fox Valley Youth Orchestra, Youth Winds and Youth Brass Band ensembles!

The Fox Valley Orchestra is excited to offer young musicians an opportunity to participate in exceptional educational ensembles led by some of the Fox Valley area’s most highly esteemed educators and conductors.

Fox Valley Youth Orchestra - conducted by Mark Liu, performs as both a full orchestra and also may include smaller chamber groups. The FVYO is comprised of some of the best young performers in the greater Fox Valley area. The group is dedicated to the performance of the finest orchestral literature. The primary ensemble consists of students generally in grades 9-12, depending on the skill as determined by audition. Player rotation within sections provides for a variety of challenges for all participants.
The FVYO also offers a junior string orchestra program called the Fox Valley Youth Sinfonietta. This ensemble is perfect for talented young performers of middle school age (grades 6-8) who are looking to begin their orchestral experience in a fun and challenging environment.

Fox Valley Youth Winds - conducted by Dr. Rod Schueller, performs as both a full wind symphony and also as smaller chamber wind groups. The FVYW is comprised of some of the most outstanding wind and percussion performers in the greater Fox Valley. The group is dedicated to the performance of the finest wind repertoire, regardless of period or disposition of instrumental forces. The ensemble consists primarily of students in grades 9-12 and performs music ranging from works requiring as few as eight players to works requiring a full wind band. Flexible instrumentation and player rotation provide members of the ensemble with a variety of responsibilities, challenges, and performance experiences.

Fox Valley Brass Band - conducted by Ralph Petrella, performs in the tradition of British brass bands and consists of skilled brass and percussion performers in grades 9-12. The Fox Valley Youth Brass Band looks for advanced players capable of handling the fun and virtuosic style found in music written for these groups. Seating may rotate between players to provide a range of appropriate and challenging music for all involved.
