Aurora student to perform as 'Jafar' in the upcoming production of "Aladdin Jr.!"

Aurora's own Keith Mankowski to perform as Jafar in the upcoming Spotlight Youth Theater's production of Disney's Aladdin Jr.!

Keith Mankowski is a kind, and very gentle speaking young man. Therefore, it may come as a surprise to you that he does a really great job of playing the role of the evil villain, Jafar, in our production of Aladdin, Jr.! His cruel, wicked laugh, his evil plan that he devises with his colorful sidekick Iago, and his desire to become the most powerful person in the world are all deceiving as to who Keith really is. Ask anyone in the cast, and I think they would all agree that Keith is one of the most tender hearted people they know.

Keith has performed in several productions, with many of them being lead roles. He has been in “Pocahontas”, “Robin Hood”, “Jungle Book”, “Oklahoma”, “Shrek”, and “Hairspray”, just to name a few. When asked what his favorite show to perform in has been, he shared with me that there were two; “Oklahoma”, where he played the role of Jud Fry, and “Shrek”, where he played the role of Shrek. My favorite role that Keith has played, besides his role as Jafar, has been that of Baloo in the production of “Jungle Book”. He played the role of a fun loving bear who thoroughly enjoyed life. I think Keith is a lot like that. He enjoys his life, his friends, and his relationships, especially with his Mom, Nancy.

Please come and join us for our last weekend of performances for the production of Aladdin, Jr.! Where every beggar has a story, and every camel has a tail. Filled with magic, mayhem, and flying carpet rides, audiences spirits will soar with excitement. Most of all, the tuneful, Academy award winning score with songs including “A Whole New World”, and “Friend Like Me” will certainly make this musical a favorite for many years to come.
