World-Renowned Trombonist Dr. Terry Leahy to Lead AYCO Band Clinic at McCormick Place on May 23

The American Youth Chamber Orchestra (AYCO) is proud to present a special Band Clinic for Ontario HS Touring Band - Georgian Bay District Secondary School on May 23, 2025, at McCormick Place, featuring world-renowned trombonist and American Music Institute faculty member, Dr. Terry Leahy. This educational opportunity brings professional-level instruction directly to student ensembles and school music programs in the Chicago area and beyond.

Dr. Leahy is an internationally recognized trombonist and pedagogue, with a distinguished career that includes tenured positions in the Finnish National Opera Orchestra and the Savonlinna Festival Opera Orchestra. He has performed with leading orchestras around the world, including the London Symphony, Sydney Symphony, and Chicago Philharmonic. As an educator, he has held faculty roles at Indiana University and Northwestern University, and has given masterclasses in Australia, the US, the UK and South Africa.

AYCO Band and Orchestra Clinic offers an immersive musical experience designed to elevate student musicianship, including:

Participating in this year’s clinic is the Georgian Bay District Secondary School (GBDSS) Concert Band from Midland, Ontario. Their participation highlights the clinic’s reach and impact across North America.
