At 7 p.m. on October 16, Mary Krystinak will demonstrate how to make strawberry jam simply and economically during “Basic Canning.” Krystinak teaches sustainable living, traditional homemaking skills, and food preservation methods including pickling and fermentation, at a number of locations and community events in the western suburbs. Participants will receive a complimentary jar of jam. This program is the first program in the library’s new “How-To Community” series. For this series, the library invites the public to suggest topics for programs which demonstrate how to do or make something. The public also is invited to share skills by teaching or demonstrating a project during a program at the library. Registration is required for this free program.
