Batavia 2011 Peapod Half Marathon Top Finishers

Most of the runners were from Illinois in this 13.1 mile race.

Just over 1,000 people ran their hearts out in Batavia Sunday.

The fourth annual Peapod HalfMadness Half Marathon was held Sunday morning. The 13.1 mile race started on Shumway Avenue and wound throughout Batavia before coming to a close in the city's downtown area.

Jeff Jonaitis came in first place overall with a time of 1 hour and 9 minutes. Richard Heffron was second with a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes and 59 seconds, and Jeff Bailey was third with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 24 seconds.

Jacqui Aubert was the top female finisher and in 19th place overall. Her time was 1 hour, 22 minutes and 46 seconds. Kim Castner was the second female finisher and 20th overall at 1 hour, 23 minutes and 12 seconds. Coming in third and 28th overall was Kristen Schneider at 1 hour, 25 minutes and 3 seconds. 

Almost all the race participants were from Illinois. A total of 979 runners out of 1,012 overall were from this state, or 96.7 percent. Only 68, or 6.7 percent of all runners, were from Batavia.

The race began downtown, wound through Batavia's west side and back towards the Fox River, up into Geneva and back down into Batavia east's side. Then the race headed east out to Woodland Hills Road, south to the bike path and onto the Fox River Trail up to the finish line back on Shumway Avenue.
