Batavia 2012 Peapod Half Marathon Top Finishers
Here are some results for the 13.1 mile race that took over Batavia on Sunday.
About 990 people got a good run in on Sunday in Batavia before the rain came down.
The runners took part in the 2012 Peapod HalfMadness Half Marathon. The 13.1 mile race started on Shumway Avenue and wound throughout Batavia before coming to a close in the city's downtown area.
Mike Spain came in first place overall with a time of 1 hour and 9 minutes and 36 seconds. Nick Hird was second with a time of 1 hour, 11 minutes and 56 seconds, and Daniel Woldesilassie was third with a time of 1 hour, 15 minutes and 14 seconds.

Tammy Lifka was the top female finisher and in 21st place overall. Her time was 1 hour, 24 minutes and 19 seconds. Angie Fiese was the second female finisher and 23rd overall at 1 hour, 24 minutes and 37 seconds. Coming in third and 26th overall was Jacqui Aubert at 1 hour, 26 minutes and 50 seconds. Almost all the race participants were from Illinois. A total of 948 runners out of 986 overall were from this state, or 96.1 percent. Only 68, or 6.9 percent of all runners, were from Batavia.

The race began downtown, wound through Batavia's west side and back towards the Fox River, up into Geneva and back down into Batavia east's side. Then the race headed east out to Woodland Hills Road, south to the bike path and onto the Fox River Trail up to the finish line back on Shumway Avenue.
