Officer Forced to Shoot Sick Raccoon
A Batavia officer reported to the 200 block of North Water Street for a report of a sick raccoon found unresponsive in a resident’s yard. The animal “was dispatched” and removed from the property, and the officer completed a “Use of Firearms” report.
You Know Those Keys You Lost? ...
A set of keys were recovered in the parking lot of Bruce Harris and Associates, 21 N. River St. The keys were placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Suspect Denies Urinating in Public
A complainant told police that someone was urinating in public in the 0-99 block of North River Street. The alleged offender was located and the area checked, but there was “no evidence to support the allegation,” reports said. The subject was released and returned home.

Thank Heaven for 7-Eleven
An employee of 7-Eleven, 336 E. Wilson St., told police that someone called around 12:39 a.m. Oct. 13 asking the employee to load money onto a store debit card. The employee did not follow through but instead reported the phone scam to the police. The report was filed at 10:52 p.m. Oct. 13.
