Batavia Blotter: Fraud, Theft, Intoxication

The following information was supplied by the Batavia Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is a collection of items from the Batavia Police Department “Daily Report Synopsis, Media/Public Version” for the week prior to Nov. 11, 2013.

Tablet Stolen at Funway 

A victim from St. Charles reported to police that someone stole her Hisense 7 Tablet, valued at $90, at Funway, 1335 S. River St., according to a report filed at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 9.

Cash Taken From Medical Office

Someone took an envelope containing $305 in cash plus assorted checks from Fox Valley Medical Associates, 1180 W. Wilson St., according to a report filed at 9:46 a.m. Nov. 8

Intoxicated Subject

Edward Arbet, 54, of Batavia was observed urinating on the sidewalk in the 0-99 block of Shumway Avenue. He was taken into custody and cited for public intoxication. He has a notice to appear with a court date of Dec. 10.

 

$1,676 Charge on Menards Account

Someone opened a Target account in the amount of $300 and a Menards account, charging $1,676.96, according to a report filed at 3:10 p.m. Nov. 8. The offender also made an unauthorized charge of $398 to an existing Kohl’s account, reports said. The victim was referred to Geneva police for similar incidents in that area.

 

Someone's Gets Victim's SS#

A victim from Batavia reported that he was contacted by AT&T regarding U-verse services that were ordered under his name, with his Social Security number at an address in Chicago. The desk report was filed at 4:11 p.m. Nov. 8.
