August 4, 2021 (Batavia, IL)-Two weeks from today, BPS101 students will begin the 2021-22 school year where we look forward to our students, once again, being able to learn alongside their teachers and classmates. BPS101 has considered the advice of public health experts to create a return to school plan. These agencies ( CDC , IDPH , KCHD ) all recommend universal masking in all PreK-12 schools regardless of vaccination status, and Governor Pritzker’s announcement today mandated masks for PreK-12 schools in Illinois. BPS101 will follow this mandate as we return to in-person learning on August 18, 2021. These safety requirements are designed to protect all of us, especially vulnerable individuals and our youngest students who are not yet able to get the vaccine. These requirements will stay in place until state and local health data improve and after further consultation with our local public health experts and advisors. Additional details about universal masking and information about the other mitigation strategies can be found on the updated FAQ section on the 2021-22 School Year page of our website. BPS101 continues to encourage all eligible students 12 years and older and all District staff to get vaccinated against COVID-19 before the start of the school year. Federal, state, and local health officials have consistently expressed that vaccination is the best protection against this virus and the best strategy to end this pandemic. We will be sending out our regular Messengers every Wednesday with additional information. Please stay tuned for updates.
