Batavia City Employees' Personal Info Stolen In 'Phishing Attack'
City officials said hackers stole "names, social security numbers, addresses and earnings" from "several hundred" city employees.

BATAVIA, IL — The personal and financial information of "several hundred" Batavia city employees was recently compromised in a phishing attack. The attack, which took place on Jan. 31, accessed the W-2 tax forms for 2017, according to a press release from city officials Friday.
Batavia officials are meeting with city employees to help them take steps to prevent fraud. The phishing attack is currently under investigation. In the meantime, officials are taking "actions limit the potential risk to employees affected by the theft of this information."
