Batavia Fire Dept. Open House Lets Kids Go Behind The Scenes
Kids can play on fire trucks, meet Sparky the fire dog, and learn about fire safety.
BATAVIA, IL — The Batavia Fire Department will host an open house on Oct. 14 to give kids and grownups a behind-the-scenes peek at local fire operations. Visitors will be able to tour the fire station, check out fire trucks, and learn about fire safety initiatives.
The event, which will be held at Fire Station 2, kicks off with an opening ceremony at 11:15 a.m. Then you can tour the fire station and kids can take photos with fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. Firefighters will also perform a simulated vehicle extrication.
Informational booths will be set up throughout the Batavia Fire Department open house that follow the theme, "Look. Listen. Learn." The theme includes learning how to spot fires and quickly escape them.

Kids will also have a chance to meet Sparky, the mascot fire dog.
