Batavia House Fire Under Investigation

BATAVIA, IL - Fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire at a home in Batavia Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to the home at 605 Park St. in Batavia at 1:30 p.m. and found a small fire that started on the deck and had extended up the exterior wall, according to a Batavia Fire Department press release.

The majority of the blaze had been extinguished by the time firefighters arrived by a neighbor with a garden house, according to the news release.

Fire crews brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes. No one was home at the time of the fire and the blaze never extended into the interior of the home.

The home is habitable at this point and the fire damaged area was boarded up.
