Batavia To Keep Current Garbage Service

Sticker costs are set to hover around $2.95 and subscription costs are not expected to change.

BATAVIA, IL — After much negotiation, debate, and even an earlier decision, Batavia City officials have voted to continue with its current garbage collection service. The city council voted 10-4 to maintain its current relationship with Advanced Disposal after Advanced counter-proposed a lower sticker price, Daily Herald reports.

Initially, council members had opted to work with Lakeshore Recycling, which offered $2.60 stickers, a savings from the current rate the city has with Advanced. According to Daily Herald, Advanced offered a $2.95 sticker cost, which some aldermen felt was reasonable considering that many residents already seemed satisfied with Advanced.

Those who opposed the deal with Advanced Disposal said they were averse to the fact that the company did not change its subscription costs as part of the approved plan.
