Batavia Library to Host Sweet 16 Party Jan. 28

The "new" library building at 10 South Batavia Avenue is 16 years old!

The Batavia Public Library will host a Sweet 16 party in honor of its current building at 10 South Batavia Avenue, from 1 to 4 p.m., January 28, at the library.

Visitors can enjoy refreshments, library trivia, a DVD showing of the building’s gala dedication in 2002, “Fiesta,” — a musical performance by Jan and Gino of the Soundz of Time at 2 p.m — and a pictorial display of library highlights from the past 16 years. Registration is required for the “Fiesta” program; please register online at BataviaPublicLibrary.org or by calling the reference desk, (630) 879-1393, ext. 200.

Also during the celebration, children can enjoy a craft and receive free birthday tattoos (washable). Because the building is turning 16, anyone who is 16 years old on January 28 can enter a free drawing for a Chipotle gift card. Teens can enter by bringing proof of age (a driver’s license or library card) to the library reference desk now through 3:45 p.m. on January 28. The drawing will take place at 4 p.m. on January 28.
