Batavia Man Gets 6-Year Sentence For Guilty Plea To Child Porn Charge
The 67-year-old was charged with 18 counts of child pornography felonies, but all but one were dropped as part of his plea deal.

BATAVIA, IL — A Batavia man pled guilty to disseminating child pornography of a victim younger than 13 in exchange for a six-year prison sentence, officials said Thursday.
David Winecke, 67, disseminated and possessed multiple videos and photographs of child pornography prior to December 20, 2022, according to prosecutors.
The 67-year-old was charged with 18 counts of child pornography felonies — three counts of reproducing child pornography and 15 counts of possession of child pornography — but all but one were dropped as part of his plea deal, Kane County State's Attorney's Office spokesperson Chris Nelson told Patch.

Winecke's bail, which he posted after his arrest in December, was set for $100,000, with 10 percent to apply. Once he did, officials said he was not allowed to have unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 18.

In addition to his prison term, for which he receives credit for the one day he served in the Kane County jail, he must register for life as a sexual offender.
Winecke, of the 1200 block of Hazelwood Court, was identified and investigated by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit created by State's Attorney Jamie Mosser and Sheriff Ron Hain to look into tips of people possessing or disseminating child pornography.
"Child pornography is not a victimless crime," Assistant States Attorney Bob Dore said in a statement. "Children depicted in sexually compromising images and videos are victimized every time someone views them, even decades later."
