Batavia Mayor To Host Tour Through Downtown Historic District
As a participant of Mayor on the Move, Mayor Jeffery Schielke is hosting the tour to encourage residents to be more physically active.
BATAVIA, IL — On Sept. 25, Batavia Mayor Jeffery Schielke will take on a new title: walking tour guide.
Schielke will take participants on a tour of historical downtown Batavia sites "that link our city with the Academy Award, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Charles Lindbergh, Buzz Aldrin and the Moon Landing," according to the event poster.
The tour will kick off at 9 a.m. at Peg Bond Center, 151 N. Island Ave.

The event is being hosted as part of Move With The Mayor, a national campaign where mayors challenge residents to be more physically active to lower their chances of heart disease and its risk factors, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes.
Registration is free and can be completed using an online form.
