Area Movie Theater Could Soon Serve Alcohol

Goodrich Randall 15 theater in Batavia is seeking a liquor license.

BATAVIA, IL ---You may soon be able to get a drink while watching a movie at a theater in Batavia.

Batavia aldermen in a preliminary 10-2 vote on Tuesday showed they were interested in creating a new Class J liquor license, which would allow movie theaters, including Goodrich Randall 15 theater in Batavia, to sell beer, wine and mixed drinks from concession counters and bars, according to the Daily Herald.

A formal vote is expected at an Oct. 17 meeting and the theater would still need to apply for a license and undergo background checks.
